Welcome to Moraga
One of the top suburbs in California, Moraga is an excellent place to live and raise a family. As the most secluded of the trio of cities that make up Lamorinda, Moraga is a tranquil, picturesque hamlet in the East Bay area. You won’t find any freeways in this quiet community and that’s just how residents like it.
Sleepy Moraga has been slow to expand, which lends it the coveted quality of a peaceful country village. Moraga initially began as part of a Mexican land grant in 1835 and began to grow slowly over the 20th century, first with the arrival of the Sacramento Northern Railroad in the mid-1910s, and again when Saint Mary's College set down roots in the late 1920s. Things were quiet again until the 1960s when most of Moraga’s homes were built. Today, Moraga’s lush green hills are home to a wide range of housing styles, including classic ranch, Mediterranean, and ultra-modern designs. From tree-lined residential neighborhoods to chic golfing communities, Moraga provides the best in suburban living.
