ORINDA

A quiet, community-driven town with upscale amenities and rural beauty.

Welcome to Orinda

With lush rolling hills and breathtaking views, Orinda is a study in bucolic beauty. This picturesque 12 square-mile city is located in Contra Costa County, east of Berkley, in a semi-rural valley. Orinda offers a small-town feel, a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, and an idyllic landscape. Named one of the friendliest towns in America by Forbes magazine, Orinda also offers easy access to the Bay area’s biggest cities. A quick ride on the BART train gets you to San Francisco in 30 minutes.

Orinda began back in the 1920s, when 1,200 acres were designated as the town site and residents of nearby cities discovered its rural charm and started building summer homes on the tree-lined hillsides. In 1937, the Caldecott Tunnel was completed and Orinda began to take off. Today, this wild beauty offers a peaceful, country-style respite to those working in bustling Bay Area cities.

Orinda real estate includes those elegant properties originally built by the town’s first summer residents, as well as stunning custom-built estates. Here you’ll also find sprawling, oak-filled lots with spectacular views of Lake Cascade and the surrounding pastoral splendor, modest family-friendly neighborhoods, and prestigious gated communities. With its captivating serenity and small-town charm, as well as proximity to big city amenities, Orinda is the perfect place to call home.
